On Tuesday, May 28th, 2024, CEO Dr. Ben Goertzel, Chief AGI Officer, Dr. Alexey Potapov, and CSO Dr. Matt Ikle explored PRIMUS (formerly known as CogPrime), a flexibly defined cognitive architecture that has been centrally pursued throughout the history of the OpenCog project.
Earlier this year, we initiated a comprehensive update and reevaluation of the PRIMUS cognitive architecture to take advantage of recent computational and conceptual advances. While the large picture dynamics, relying on an integrative hybrid neural-symbolic model incorporating Cognitive Synergy at its core, will remain the same, some of the internals are being rethought and retooled using new technologies.
PRIMUS will continue to incorporate subsystems for uncertain inference, including PLN and NARS, evolutionary methods such as MOSES, attention and resource allocation, motivation, goal generation, perception, action, concept formation, a host of support tools, and others. Driven by curiosity, PRIMUS will use a combination of active experimentation with, and exploration of, its environment, in conjunction with causal and temporal reasoning, to build its internal world model.

In the past month, our team participated in the following key events:
COO Janet Adams and Desdemona (Desi) Robot from Yaya Labs joined Christoph Santner, Co-Founder and Co-President of AInitiative, Leyla Baghirzade, Founder and CEO of Swiss Alternative Financing, Prof. Christoph Stückelberger, President of Geneva Agape Foundation, and David Gyori, CEO Banking Reports London, at the World Summit on the Information Society in Geneva to explore AIs potential to create fAInance for Good and discuss how to create a more intelligent, sustainable, inclusive and ethical financial ecosystem.
In her address, Janet reiterated our commitment to creating decentralized, democratic, inclusive, and beneficial Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) that fosters the growth of life: Our hope at SingularityNET and what were working toward is that our AGI in this AI revolution will eradicate the dramatic social and financial inequalities that we see in the world today.
She contrasted this with the prevailing profit-driven motives in traditional sectors like banking, noting, The banking industry has one motive and that is to make money, and thats fine, its a product of capitalism ( ). Were building AGI with better ethics, better values, and better motives, a motive to bring everybody along with the world in this technological revolution.
Highlighting the urgency of the situation, Janet described the current moment as a Sliding Doors (reference to the 1998 movie) moment for humanity, where AGI is on the brink of becoming a reality. This is why Janet implored the audience to consider: Who is going to develop that AGI? Is it going to be flawed humans with profit, power, and destruction as their core motives, or is it going to be a group of decentralized individuals with the benefit of humanity at heart?
To ensure the latter, she passionately urged a conscious decision toward a decentralized, ethically-driven approach to AGI development, ensuring that it serves the needs of the broadest possible range of individuals on the planet: Via decentralization, we have the opportunity to bring ethics, values, and needs of people from all over the planet, of all races, of all ages, of all religious denominations ( ) into the development of AGI so that when that superintelligence evolves, its ethics and its decisions are driven by the needs of the broadest group of diverse individual
