Greetings Singularitarians,

In October, SingularityNET saw the culmination of two community governance events: the election of the new Supervisory Council and Deep Funding Round 3. Thanks to all who participated, either by nominating themselves, submitting proposals, or voting.

We also introduced our new ‘Knowledge Layer’ strategy aimed at fostering the growth of the SingularityNET platform and supporting the development and deployment of decentralized beneficial AGI. Yes, achieving AGI is within reach. The bulk of the theoretical work has been carried out by our leadership team, consisting of Dr. Ben Goertzel, Dr. Matt Iklé, and Dr. Alexey Potapov. Building on their combined decades of expertise, we have now transitioned from conceptualization to actively implementing our ideas and R&D directions, targeting March 2024 for the Alpha release of the OpenCog Hyperon AGI framework.

Looking forward, November will see the launch of the AGIX staking portal on Cardano. Our team has been working hard to create a unique staking solution that is convenient, secure, and rewarding for you, our community, so we hope to see you join in. Supervisory Council Election Results

A new Supervisory Council (SC) has been elected to help guide SingularityNET to a decentralized future. We are happy to announce the 3 new SC members: Daniel Ospina, Grace Rachmany, and Xhoni Shollaj.

These SC members are part of a task force that will develop a blueprint for enhanced decentralization of SingularityNET. The SC will be working closely with the community to ensure that you stay informed of the proceedings and provide opportunities for you to get involved.

Deep Funding Round 3 Results

We were delighted to announce the results of the most successful round to date of our community-driven program Deep Funding. We are grateful for the support of our community and look forward to continuing to work together to shape the future of decentralized AI.

Mondo.NYC

We were proud to host the inaugural MONDO.NYC AI Hub — a day-long immersive experience exploring the intersection of AI and music at the Water Tower at the Arlo Williamsburg Hotel in New York City.

The event drew a diverse crowd of AI enthusiasts, music business professionals, and artists, all eager to learn more about how AI is transforming the music industry.

The day began with a keynote address by CEO Dr. Ben Goertzel during which he discussed the potential for AI to revolutionize the music industry in a variety of ways, from generating new music to improving the live music experience. He also highlighted how music and musicians can drive AI growth in positive and creative ways.

Following Ben’s keynote, attendees had the opportunity to participate in a variety of engaging panel sessions and interactive demos. The first panel was hosted by COO Janet Adams and featured an insightful discussion between Ben, our Creative Director Edward J. Keller, and the Founder of Xragency.CO Angelica Nefertiti Strong about the many ways in which AI could be used to create tools that promote emergent human-machine creativity.

In an impassioned keynote, the Creative Director of Yaya Labs, Ben Ditto, explained how to manufacture a pop star in the era of artificial intelligence, discussed the potential for AI celebrities to explore the future of identity and self-expression in the age of AI, and explained how they can help us understand what it means to be human in a world where AI is becoming increasingly sophisticated and capable.

Danny Newcomb, CEO and Co-Founder of Incantio, explored the future of AI-driven music licensing. He also discussed the potential for AI and ML to create a more equitable and sustainable music industry and help us discover more music humanly.

The President of Jam Galaxy, Dianne Krouse, and CEO Patrik Gudev, shared some of the ways in which AI, music, and blockchain technology are being used to give musicians new tools and capabilities to express their creativity in new and innovative ways and to reach a wider audience with their music. They also highlighted the importance of decentralization and how the Jam Galaxy AI-driven tokenomics music platform will give musicians more control over their careers and allow them to connect with their fans in new and innovative ways.

The day concluded with a concert by Desdemona’s Dream, a band that uses AI to generate spoken word poetry and music. The concert was a unique and inspiring fusion of music, technology, AI, and performance art.

Overall, the MONDO.NYC AI Hub was a valuable opportunity for people to learn about the latest AI technologies, network with other AI enthusiasts and music professionals, and help shape the future of AI and music.

Future Blockchain Summit

On day 1 of the Future Blockchain Summit in Dubai, COO Janet Adams joined a stellar panel of industry experts to discuss the investment frenzy over generative artificial intelligence.

Janet highlighted the importance of aligning AI projects with broader organizational goals. She noted that many AI projects, while technically sound, sometimes miss the mark in real-world applications. She also discussed the importance of education, mentioning that without the right experts at each stage of the AI pipeline, projects might not yield the desired outcomes. Janet’s intervention was a clear reminder that the success of AI projects hinges on the right combination of people, technology, and business strategy.

Diving deeper into the challenges surrounding generative AI, Janet also highlighted the emerging ethical challenges, from data through model risk to governance. With issues concerning data permissions and potential copyright infringements gaining prominence, she emphasized the merits of decentralized governance and blockchain in addressing these dilemmas by bringing transparency, inclusion, and fairness. Lastly, echoing the broader sentiment on the panel, Janet voiced concerns about the dominance of tech giants, suggesting that their overwhelming presence could stifle the innovation of startups.

On day 2, Janet joined Brian Benedict Rose, Founder and Host of London Real, for a wide-ranging fireside chat at the Future Blockchain Summit on the impending AGI revolution and the potential for technology to solve the pressing problems we face today and achieve broadly shared prosperity in our society.

The discussion further touched on the concrete steps we are taking to achieve this vision, including developing our decentralized AI marketplace, the OpenCog Hyperon AGI framework, and Zarqa, the next generation of neural-symbolic LLMs. Janet specifically mentioned the potential of Zarqa to democratize frontier technologies and ensure their benefits are disseminated universally by offering easy and open access to intelligent and creative AI models and technology-generated wealth.

This insightful conversation was also an opportunity to further the collective dialogue on the responsible development and safe adoption of AGI and to highlight the importance of diversity and inclusion throughout the AI lifecycle. Janet called for individuals from all walks of life and all racial and ethnic groups to get involved in shaping the future of AI.

Gitex Global

On Thursday, October 19th, COO Janet Adams participated in an insightful panel discussion at the world’s largest and most inclusive tech show, GITEX GLOBAL, on scaling large language models (LLMs) alongside industry experts Joe Reis, Founder and CEO of Ternary Data, Jonathan Ross, CEO and Founder of Groq, and Shail Khiyara, President and COO of Turbotic.

Janet discussed the future of LLMs and delved into the immense potential of neural-symbolic LLMs like Zarqa to ground LLMs in knowledge, highlighting their ability to transform automation and intelligent automation at an enterprise level.

The discussion then shifted to the critical topic of generating direct economic value from LLMs. Janet stressed the importance of neural symbolic AI methods to overcome the brittleness of today’s RPA and IA tools and achieve breakthrough levels in performance.

In addition to the technical challenges, Janet also stressed the importance of ensuring fairness and mitigating bias in AI. She highlighted the once-in-a-species opportunity for humanity to shine a spotlight on our biases, via AI, and eliminate them once and for all, rebooting decision-making and technology for the benefit of all.

Janet took the stage again at Gitex Global to discuss our renewed decentralized AI platform strategy and the future of generative AI and AGI.

Janet delved into the evolution of knowledge and its importance to the next generation of AI systems. She stressed that while AI models are adept at processing and analyzing vast amounts of data, they often struggle to extract meaningful insights and generate comprehensive understanding, highlighting the lower resource and efficient computing capabilities of neural symbolic techniques compared to pure DNN methods.

Janet then focussed on the importance of diversity and inclusion in the development and use of AI so that our next generation of superintelligent AGIs reflect and serve the needs of the many, not the few.

Janet then explained how we are working to revolutionize every sector of industry and address humanity’s most pressing problems by developing knowledge-driven AI tools and models that can help us make sense of the world around us and solve the pressing problems we face.

She highlighted the potential of the SingularityNET platform to achieve this goal, as it is designed to integrate symbolic and connectionist approaches to AI, including knowledge metagraphs and neural-symbolic LLMs.

Janet also took this opportunity to invite open source researchers and developers from around the world to contribute to the development of Hyperon and to urge regulators and policymakers to acknowledge and recognize the significant contributions made by the open source community to safe and responsible AI development.

AI World Fair in Decentraland

CEO Dr. Ben Goertzel delivered a keynote address titled “Virtual embodiment as a path to beneficial Artificial General Intelligence” at the AI World Fair held by Verse Digital and Decentraland.

In his presentation, Ben explored the potential of virtual embodiment to accelerate the development of decentralized, beneficial AGI. He also discussed the importance of the Neoterics, an Artificial Metaversal Society for early-stage AGI. The Neoterics is primarily intended for experimentation with OpenCog Hyperon algorithms for controlling embodied agents that display, develop, and emerge collective intelligence in SophiaVerse and other virtual worlds.

During the event, everyone who visited our headquarters had the chance to earn NFTs and wearable avatar items, including a special SingularityNET t-shirt.
